Step four, do the experiment, have the ice cube out on the counter, have an egg timer or set an alarm every 3 min and document the progress. Step five, share your result with someone. If you like change the variable in this case temperature (add the ice cube to warm water and set the timer. Does it still melt at the same rate of time??? I will show this experiment in my daily video log.

As we have worked very hard on recognizing the individual letters, you can now focus on writing common words, sight words and words that we use frequently as well as words from our word family collection https://images.app.goo.gl/2FqDXvHx6zeeAGRR8 Today explain to your child what “Matter” is. Anything that takes up space is called Matter, Air, rocks, water and even people are examples of Matter. Let your child write the word Matter and draw an example of Matter.

09:45-10:10 Circle time (Theme discussion) Solids, Liquid, Gas

If you’d like you can continue with our morning routine of singing the Good Morning song: https://youtu.be/-0o79IMmAYE you can also count the days of the month and days of the week. We learned that Matter is anything that takes up space. Matter can be grouped in 3 categories: Solids, Liquid, Gas. Use this worksheet to explain https://images.app.goo.gl/62frjJYKhF3pdSix6 find things around the house and let your child identify the right type of matter.

10:15-10:35 Snack Time

If you can, use this time to take a walk outside or play in your backyard. Either indoors or outdoors play this song by Jack Hartman https://youtu.be/3IW8E1YR0kE use the matter images from earlier https://images.app.goo.gl/62frjJYKhF3pdSix6 pick one and give direction sit for liquid, stand for solid and wave your arms for gas.

11:15-12:00 Circle Time and Centers. What is the world made of?

This is a great book that explains matter in great detail. Please be sure to follow that link https://youtu.be/-H9qDUlzBls Let your child come up with examples of Liquid, Solids and Gas.
Sensory experiment: How to make rock candy. You’ll need I cup of water and 2 cups of sugar, wooden popsicle stick and cloth pin. Bring sugar water to a boil, let sit and cool for 15min for safe handling. Use glass jar such as tomato s jar, prepare wooden stick by wetting it and rolling it in sugar then stick the popsicle stick in jar. Make sure the stick does not touch any sides by attaching a cloth pin cover with paper towel and document progress daily. The sugar will slowly crystalize. I will show this in my daily video log.
Science: Silly putty. 2tbs of cornstarch, 1tbs plus 2 tsp of dish soap mix and enjoy.

Wednesday 4/29

09:00-09:45 Free play/Writing Center
As we have worked very hard on recognizing the individual letters, you can now focus on writing common words, sight words and words that we use frequently as well as words from our word family collection https://images.app.goo.gl/2FqDXvHx6zeeAGRR8 Today explain what Density is. Density is the amount of space an object takes up. This is a hard concept to understand and to make it a bit easier we will stick with air/volume. Go over this sheet and ask sink or float and why. https://images.app.goo.gl/TeCCtDS9Rp5hjcZBA

09:45-10:10 Circle time (Theme discussion) Why will a small rock sink but an apple float

If you’d like you can continue with our morning routine of singing the Good Morning song: https://youtu.be/-0o79IMmAYE you can also count the days of the month and days of the week. Today we learn about the amount some object take up. Like a beach ball for example is filled with air, it’s hollow inside, it makes it very light. Boats float because it’s like a bowl filled with air. How about a bag filled with dirt, dirt or a rock. Their doesn’t seem to be much air inside a rock or penny or even a bag of dirt so it’s more dense. https://youtu.be/eQuW8G2QV_Q https://youtu.be/2dyCe1GPagE

10:15-10:35 Snack Time

Enjoy a healthy snack with your child

10:40-11:10 Movement/Outside/Playground (sink or float experiment)

If you can, use this time to take a walk outside or play in your backyard. Either indoors or outdoors have a plastic bin filled with water. Let your child gather objects they would like to try out, before you start take a guess and explanation as to why he or she/he thinks something will sink or float.

11:15-12:00 Circle Time and Centers. What floats in a Moat?

This is a fun book that explores the concept of Density.
Science: Density Tower. https://images.app.goo.gl/LqnVs9dasc7k2VWLA you’ll need: Honey, Corn syrup, Dish soap, water with food coloring, vegetable oil and a glass jar. Depending on the size of the cup/jar use equal amounts of each of the liquids and pour in order from above. Slowly pour each liquid and see the different colors. Ask why the colors don’t mix. The most dense liquid is on the bottom and so on... I will show this experiment in my video log.

Science/fine motor: Egg spin. Have two eggs ready one boiled and cooled the other raw. Spin the raw egg and observe what happens, it will wobble, because the yellow and white (yolk and white) have different density even inside the egg. Now spin the boiled egg. It will spin smoothly and faster because the inside is one solid mass inside using up almost all the space.

10:40-11:10 Movement/Outside/Playground (be a bee relay) game

Go over what you learned about bees and that bees work together to collect nectar to bring it back to the beehive, it takes a long time to collect it and all the bees have to work together. Do a relay game outside, have two buckets one filled with water.... The other one empty, sitting opposite about 10 yards away, then let child use a ladle and transfer what’s inside on bucket to the other.

11:15-12:00 Circle Time and Centers.

It’s hard work being a bee. Bees help “pollinate” flowers that in turn helps other flowers and trees grow. These two links are super fun and full of information about bees. BEE sure to check them out ;) https://youtu.be/ta154f5Rp5Y https://youtu.be/txv2k7OoY7U
Sensory: The Sensory bin is so much fun. You can keep the grass if you’d like, if you have fake flowers add those or pick some from outside.
Science: explore the stages of life with your child. I normally wouldn’t use a worksheet but I understand that your recourses might be limited right now, so here is an easy worksheet let your child cut the squares https://images.app.goo.gl/PHdVqGN4yaSCCWWS9
Art: use toilet paper roll, paint yellow and black. Let child draw and cut two circles for eyes, two circles for wings and two long strips for antennas, glue on eyes, wings and antennas. I will demonstrate this craft in my daily video.
